For the first time, we are inviting you to a Christmas concert in Oslo’s historic ceremonial hall. The University Aula is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, and most internationally acclaimed Norwegian musicians have performed there. The venue was also previously used for the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, and its walls are adorned with Edvard Munch’s magnificent paintings The History, The Sun, and Alma Mater. This creates a beautiful setting to get into the Christmas spirit. The concert will feature well-known works by Handel, Mozart, Vavilov, Franck, Strauss, Reger, and Grieg – classical gems often associated with the holiday season.
The performance will be given by soprano Hege Gustava Tjønn Ludwig, violinist Ragnhild Hemsing, and pianist Christian Grøvlen, all of whom have gained international recognition.
Originally from the island of Bornholm, Danish accordionist Bjarke Mogensen has immersed himself in his country's rich musical heritage. He presents a programme of traditional music, original compositions and works by other Danish composers. Given the long-standing historical and cultural links between Denmark and Norway, he is joined by violinist (fiddle and Hardanger fiddle) Ragnhild Hemsing to also perform works and folk pieces by Norwegian composers.

Floridante's season-long series of four concerts "Europe's Top Soloists" will bring together top Estonian soloists and their friends from Europe. For the final concert of the series in May, the members of Floridante have invited Ragnhild Hemsing, a top violinist of Norwegian origin already familiar to Estonian audiences. The violinist, who won the Opus Classic Award for her album RØTA, has performed as a soloist with both the Estonian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra in Estonia. Together with Floridante and countertenor Risto Joost, Ragnhild has performed a programme of Bach's music and arrangements of Estonian and Norwegian folk tunes in Estonia.
At the concert in Tallinn, Ragnhild Hemsing and Floridante will perform one of the finest works of world classical music, A. Vivaldi's "Seasons". What makes this year's performance special is the fact that these violin concertos will be performed for the first time in Estonia on Hardanger violin, interwoven with Norwegian folk tunes!

- Opening concert: "From Vivaldi to Valdres" - Wednesday 24 January, 19:00 at Kongsberg Church
How is the sound of Vivaldi's famous The Four Seasons when played on the Hardanger fiddle filtered through the Valdres folk music tradition? This musical experiment is answered through the collaboration between Ragnhild Hemsing and the Baroque canons.
- "Storm and longings" - Thursday 25 January, 19:30 at Kongsberg Church
Ragnhild Hemsing and Tor Espen Aspaas are well known for their eminent interplay and powerful communication of Beethoven's chamber music. The Piano Sonata, also known as the Moonlight Sonata, was dedicated by Beethoven to his student Julie "Giulietta" Guicciardi, for whom he once harboured warm feelings. Endlessly beautiful music inspired by hopeless love
