New CD "Beethoven's Testaments of 1802" is out now!

We, Tor Espen Aspaas and I, are delighted to announce the release of our new recording "Beethoven's Testaments of 1802"!

The album with Beethoven's Sonatas No. 8 and No. 9 “Kreutzer” is released on the label 2L.This is our third recording in ten years of collaboration, and these sonatas have taken such a prominent place on our duo agenda over time – works that we love playing over and over, and still we always make new and inspiring discoveries in them – insights that contribute to evolving us as a duo.
Sonatas No. 8 and 9 are both composed in the same year, but they could not have been more different in style and in mood. We’ve also selected these sonatas because 1802 is the year of crisis in the course of which Beethoven the artist commits Beethoven the man to fate - and becomes immortal. Beethoven turns his back on any hope or pretention of living a “normal” life, and in doing so changes the course of the entire history of Western music.
